Good Evening Friends
It’s been a good day! We accomplished a number of things…
The afternoon was spent working on our new greenhouse. This evening the plastic was pulled, covering the crop of green tomatoes. Now maybe they will go ahead and start getting ripe. (We hope to have tomatoes available to sell in a few weeks. I’ll let you know when we do.)
A Few Thoughts On Excellence and Continuity
Yoders’ Farm has grown in some ways in the past few years. We’ve raised tomatoes for quite a few years. Then Lowell started the pick your own Strawberry patch a few years ago. About the same time he started growing pumpkins for the fall season.
Last winter we began discussing the possibility of adding a Corn Maze to the fall season. The idea was that families could make a trip to the farm, spend an hour or so, go through the maze and pick a pumpkin in our field.
So in some ways the loop is closing. We are getting closer to being a year round operation.
- Tomatoes start producing in October and go through June or so.
- Strawberries start producing towards the end of April and go to about the end of May. (or so)
- Corn and a bit of other produce comes in about the end of May and into June and July.
- Pumpkins and the Corn Maze become available towards the end of September and go till November.
It makes us busier than we used to be. But we do enjoy serving our customers with a quality product. Whether that be a gourmet hydroponic tomato, a sweet strawberry, a pumpkin, or a corn maze.
It’s About You Our Customers
Obviously all of these things sound nice on paper. But at the end of the day none of this is sustainable without a great tribe of customers who stick with us loyally and return for each consecutive season. It’s always great to hear a new customer tell us that their friend was here and told them about us; that is the highest compliment we can receive!
So we strive for excellence in the things that we do. We try to do them as well as we can. And the rest is up to you.
So thanks. Thanks for following along and being a part of Yoders’ Farm – year round.
That’s about it!
