Good afternoon Everyone,
This episode has a few different parts from events at the farm over the past two weeks. The main part of the video covers a run that we made to Harrisonburg to pick up a second layer of row covers for frost protection over a couple of really cold nights a few weeks ago.
Once we got back with the new row covers we went ahead and deployed them… we all crawled in bed some time after 3 a.m. but we were able to save a lot of blooms (strawberries in the making) that night and then again a few nights later.
This past Sunday we spent a little bit of time together as a family, something that seems difficult to do during this busy spring time. On the menu was some shortcake with a few early strawberries and some strawberry bread, again made with a few early strawberries. The deliciousness was appreciated by all of us.
At the end of the video Lowell gives us a little update on the state of the PYO strawberry patch.
The berries are starting to get bigger and with a number of warm days we are looking at a potential pick-your-own strawberry patch opening at the end of next week (around April 29th). Be sure to follow along on Facebook, Instagram, here on the website or join our email list – those are the only ways we have to let you know when we open… 🙂
Till then we are still open in the Farm Store, with plenty of tomatoes, a small supply of pre-picked early strawberries, strawberry bread, jams and jellies, etc… Hours for that can be found right over here.
Thanks for being awesome!
