Howdy Folks
Good morning to each of you!
A couple of things we would like to make you aware of.
Here is what this blog post will cover.
- Blueberries – one last trip, order now.
- The State of the Corn Patch
- The State of the tomatoes (Hydroponic and Heirloom!)
- The State of the Maze
- The State of the Melon Patch
- A Blueberry Pie Recipe (our favorite 🙂 )
So lets dive right in.
Blueberries – Our Last Trip
Last week we made two trips to pick up New Jersey Blueberries.
The orders started to slow down towards the end of last week and we thought we would just stop after two trips.
However there has been a fair bit of interest shown in the last few days for us to make another trip, but we need to fill out the load before we can make the trip.
We are potentially making plans for another “Blueberry Run” towards the end of this week.
Here is the deal. If you would like some blueberries, you can find more details about them here.
If you need ideas of what to do with your blueberries, you can find our favorite Blueberry Pie Recipe at the end of this blog post!
The State of the Corn Patch
A lot of you have already had some of the corn from our patch this year.
We still have some corn, but we are slowly reaching the end of  our corn season.
We should have corn available for another week or so.
The State of the Tomatoes (Hydroponic and Heirloom!)
We are still picking tomatoes in the greenhouse. Since we aim to have hydroponic tomatoes through the winter, our greenhouse tomatoes are slowing down and nearing the end of their season.
However, we do have a row of Heirloom tomatoes outside this year. The Heirlooms are kind of an experiment, but we should have some Heirloom tomatoes available to sell for the next month or so.
Also, we are already planning for the tomato greenhouse for this fall.
We have a bunch of “Baby Tomatoes” Â growing under lights, doing their best to be ready to produce tomatoes in October!
The State of the Corn Maze
We planted the corn for our corn maze a week or so ago. It has sprouted and is growing like crazy!
Right now we are still working on designing the maze and finalizing a few other preliminary things.
Here is a question for you… Â you can answer in the comments at the end of this post.
What would you like to see in a corn maze? (Feel free to use your imagination!)
We should have more information on the corn maze, opening dates, etc… in a few weeks or a month.
The State of the Melon Patch
A few years ago Lowell planted a bunch of Sprite Melons. They were somewhat of a hit, and we have planted a few of them each year since.
This year we will have a limited supply of Sprite Melons, Canary Melons and Watermelons.
Watch Facebook  or Instagram and we will try to let you know when they start to get ripe!
And here we are… ready for what you really want – the Blueberry Recipe! 🙂
Blueberry Pie Recipe
This recipe makes two large, creamy, “awesome tasting,” pies – it really is one of our favorites.
Ingredients.
- 2 cups sugar
- 2 cups milk
- 8 oz. package cream cheese
- 8 oz. sour cream
- 4 eggs
- 1/2 cup self-rising flour – (Instead of self-rising flour, you can use 1/2 cup all purpose flour, 1/2 tsp. baking powder and 1/2 tsp. salt.)
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 cup blueberries
Instructions
Mix all ingredients and bake your pie at 350Â for 30-40 minutes, or until the pie is set.
What have you been doing with your blueberries?
Again, if you would like to order some for our last blueberry run, get info about how you can do that right over here.
Thank You!
That’s pretty much the overview of where we are with everything here at Yoders’ Farm.
Except, we need to once again say thank you to each of you who have made our produce season thus far a good one. We really appreciate and value each of you as customers and as friends.
We look forwards to continuing to be able to serve you!
Have a blessed week,
Eldon, for all of us here at Yoders’ Farm
